中国自古就流传一句古话，来自于论语，是孔子讲的： 三十而立，四十不惑，五十知天命，六十而耳顺 因为儒家文化和孔子对于中华民族乃至于整个亚洲地区的影响力，他说过的很多话也自然而然地被封为了圭臬至宝，流传至今。这句话尤为如此，因为这几个年龄基本上涵盖了人的一生。 另一个原因则是因为，我们也时刻被包围在一种规划性极其浓郁的社会氛围下，不论是过去的计划经济时代还是现在政府仍然持续的五年规划，整个国家的发展一直在很有计划地推进。即便发展的过程还是充满坎坷，但是似乎大家还是愿意相信总会有一个计划、一个好计划的。 回过头来看看每个个体呢，从出生到幼儿园、上小学、中学、大学，一直到读研究生、读博士，每一次“跃龙门”都有一个很准确的年龄，否则你就会成为班里的异类。更严重的情况就是，因为年龄过大导致不可挽回地错过一些和年龄条件相关的评定。 我们也似乎习惯了，在每一个年龄、每一个阶段，都要有一个阶段性的任务。上学、高考、毕业、找工作、结婚、生子……如果没有在某一年龄段前达到某一阶段的任务，那么人生就好像遭遇了重大失败，前途也就变得渺茫了。
